Our Campus and Location

Founded in 1866, UW-Platteville (UWP) is Wisconsin’s oldest public university and is considered one of the safest campuses in the nation.  It’s also where the Chicago Bears training camp was based until 2002.

UWP offers very comfortable lodging.  Campers have one roommate in a double-occupancy dormitory room with air conditioning and laundry facilities in the basement.  Wellspring’s dorm has a lounge for relaxation after a fun and challenging day.

Athletic and other facilities are state-of-the-art.  The game room, library, fitness and weight training facility, dance studio, basketball and volleyball courts, outdoor playing fields, indoor track, tennis courts, and swimming pool are just a few of the facilities that campers use daily.
All meals are served in the spacious UWP dining hall, which feels nearly as familiar and comfortable as the kitchen at home by the end of the summer.

UWP's campus is safe, with 24-hour-a-day security.  The campus is entirely contiguous, with no Platteville streets dividing the campus.  Campus buildings are separated by quads, wide sidewalks and manicured lawns.

Platteville

Platteville has approximately 10,000 residents and is located amidst rolling hills and farm land in beautiful Grant County, about 70 miles southwest of Madison, WI, and 150 miles from Milwaukee.

Southwest Wisconsin’s charm is rarely clearer than in Platteville.  Surrounded by rolling hills, the Platteville features some of the most amazing sights in Wisconsin. Platteville also offers a wide range of recreational opportunities like fly fishing the Platte and Grant Rivers, hiking or biking the scenic landscape, and enjoying a challenging round of golf. On the cultural side, the city provides art galleries and unique museums that showcase Platteville’s rich mining history. On the side of Platte Mound stands a large letter “M” that symbolizes all the work the University’s Engineering Department has accomplished over the years. The city’s historic downtown shopping district makes for a great way to leisurely spend a day shopping.
