The goal at Wellspring is to help campers change their lifestyle for success at camp and continued success at home. This lifestyle change is led by the clinical team. Learn more about how this works by reading our clinical blog from Dr. Kristina Kelly.

4th of July Celebration

Saturday, July 4th was a big day for us here at WWI. Not only did we celebrate our nation's Independence Day, but we also celebrated our camp wide Color War. Color War is a Wellspring tradition where we break the camp into to two teams, orange and blue, and they compete against each other throughout the day in a variety of games and activities. From water balloon tosses to shaving cream fights, rings tosses to relays, the whole camp was a buzz and festive.

To finish out the day we grilled out turkey dogs, beans and potato casserole and walked to the fireworks display at a local Platteville park. It made for a long day, but was well worth it in the end.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night of this week, all of our campers will be going on a "dine out challenge." The dine out challenge creates an opportunity to take the skills campers have been learning and apply them in the "real" world. This session, we are heading to Applebee's. The campers are given a menu ahead of time so they have an opportunity to prepare and look up fat and calories for the options they are considering. Thus far our first group has done really well at staying on program. Ultimately, it's up to the campers to make the decision and regardless of whether or not it is on the program, it makes for a great learning opportunity.

Stay tuned for more WWI Blogs throughout the coming weeks. You can expect an update every few days as the summer progress.
